The Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza, IP-RAM hereby informs that, due to the 2026 Madeira Rally, temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place on several regional roads between 31 July and 1 August. These may affect access to some of the Classified Walking Trails in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

In particular, access to the following walking trails may be affected:

PR 1 – Vereda do Areeiro, due to the closure of the access roads to Poiso/Pico do Areeiro;
PR 10 – Levada do Furado and PR 11 – Levada dos Balcões, due to traffic restrictions in the Ribeiro Frio area;
PR 9 – Levada do Caldeirão Verde, due to the restrictions planned for the Santana area.

Tour operators are advised to inform their clients of these restrictions in advance and to plan their activities accordingly

For PR 1 – Vereda do Areeiro, access to Pico do Areeiro should, whenever possible, be made via the Forest Road connecting Eira do Serrado to Pico do Areeiro, avoiding the Poiso access road during the closure periods.
