The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation), informs that all officially classified hiking trails in the Autonomous Region of Madeira will be closed on 8 November 2026, following the weather warning issued by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

This measure aims to safeguard visitor safety in view of the forecast weather conditions and the risks associated with travelling through natural and forest areas.

The forest road connecting Eira do Serrado to Pico do Areeiro will also be closed on that day.

The IFCN strongly recommends that everyone follow the instructions issued by the Civil Protection authorities and act responsibly. No recreational or sporting activities should take place in forest areas during this period.
